There are different types of thinking, such as Positive Thinking, Creative Thinking, Critical Thinking, and many other types. Thinking styles has an immediate and tremendous affect on the way we live. For parents to know more about these thinking styles, Be-Free conducted a series of radio shows to discuss the thinking styles
, the obstacles of using each style and how to introduce these thinking styles to children.
Ideas:
Watch yourself speaking about a difficult situation you are going through, what words do you use? If you use positive words that give hope, then certainly your children will learn this from you
Positive thinking encourages your children to have hope to solve whatever problem they face, and don't give up.
Introduce your children to games that make their creativity flow such as using clay, water, sand, and other games away from electronic games
Creative thinking helps the child find creative solutions. In situations of abuse or bullying they can use this skill to seek help until they find it.
Critical thinking helps children and specially teens to think about what they hear or read instead of taking it for granted. You can take small steps to instil this style in their lives by discussing the news you hear, or questioning the advertisements you see on TV,..etc.
Enjoy practising the different styles of thinking with your child
