Be-Free and "Protect Children Now" movement announced the winners of the law competition about drafting a model law for child rights promotion and protection in Arab world. The winners were 2 ladies from Saudi Arabia, Muneera Al-Hamdan and Noof Al-blewy, who worked together on drafting one model law.
The second winner is Fatima Almahari, a student from Bahrain University, and the third is Arwa Alblushy, a student from Oman. The scientific committee that evaluated the model laws, consisted from a group of lawyers, and university professors in the law field.
The competition was launched beginning of 2010 by "Protect children Now" Movement. The competition aims at Stimulating and developing scientific legal research in the field of Child Rights, and expanding of knowledge in specialized legal issues among law students in the Arab World.
It is worth mentioning that "Protect Children Now" Movement was launched in November 2009, by a group of specialists in different fields, to promote the protection of children from abuse through encouraging new and more comprehensive legislations.
The founders of the movement are: Dr Soroor Qarooni, President of the Bahrain Women's Association; Mr Souhail Al Gosaibi, local entrepreneur and martial arts expert; Rana Al Sairafi , the manager of Be Free; Dr Mohammed Al Roken, lawyer and associate professor U.A.E. University; Dr Najat Al Mala'a, UN Special Rapporteur on the sale of children, child pornography and trafficking; Dr J'Lein Liese, President of the Foundation for Global Leadership and Dr Kate Maguire Consultant Psychotherapist in Trauma and Abuse and academic, Middlesex University, UK.
