Be-Free Conducts a Report on Child Rights in Bahrain

15 March 2010

Be-Free conducted the Arab Council for Childhood and Development Report on Child Rights in Bahrain. The report has two parts, the first about children's' knowledge about Child Rights Convention (CRC), and the second is about the NGOs and their knowledge and consideration of the the CRC articles in their work.

The study shows that the CRC is not known among children, and is not included in any system to ensure the children will study the minimum basics of it. The few rights children knew about were actually from different sources. The study has also showed that children and NGOs have ranked governmental bodies and legislation counsels as the least knowledgeable about the CRC. On the other hand children have described their parents as the most knowledgeable and respectful for the articles of the CRC.

Be-Free has also participated in the third Arab Civil Society Forum for childhood and development in Cairo, where the report about Child Rights in the Arab Countries including Bahrain was presented.
