Be-Free conducts train the trainer for specialists

5 Jan 2011

Be-Free conducted a train the trainer course on teaching child rights to children for specialists, teachers, and social supervisors. This training is part of “It’s my right to understand my rights ” program about training children on child rights, that was launched in partnership with UNICEF.

Along with the training a training manual was provided , which includes workshops with activities for some of the main articles of Child Rights Convention, to help the trainers facilitate workshops in a fun and simple way, clarifying that for each right there is a responsibility of respecting the right of others. It also includes practical ideas of implementing each right in children’s daily life.

Training children on child rights help them understand  the concept of “Rights”, and that each person no matter how young has rights. This will increase their self esteem, and leads them to respect the rights of other children and adults just as they wish their own rights to be respected.  With this foundation, children will learn to understand and appreciate people with lives and experiences different from their own.

One of the publications of Be-Free in this area is a story for children called “The Courage of  Naser” which tells the story of a child “Naser” who with the understanding of  some of his rights was able to protect himself from abuse.
