Be-Free celebrates Universal Children’s Day and World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse

November 2015

Be-Free Program of Bahrain Women Association - for Human Development held an event in Bahrain Mall on 19th and 20th November to celebrate Universal Children’s Day and World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse. The event’s slogan was “My Presence Is a Source of Goodness for Others”, which aims at reducing bullying among children.

Bullying is when a child, or group of children hurt another child or a group of children with the intention to make them feel bad about themselves, destroy their confidence, and to belittle them in front of their peers. Bullying is common among some children, and has tremendous effects on both the bully, and the bullied.

The event included different activities in Arabic and English, such as a coloring corner for a new book titled “I'm a Respectful, Strong, and Smart Child”, published by Be-Free Program to raise awareness about bullying and its effects, and how to replace it with concepts and behaviors that carry goodness for others.

The second corner was for fun mini-workshop for children that shows them the effects of bullying, how it hurts, and how to avoid it. Another corner was for interactive storytelling, where children are introduced to the values, and concepts of respecting the different others, and learning from these differences which emphasizes the children’s respect to themselves and others.

The event included a corner for Be-Free publications for children, teenagers, parents, and specialists.
More than 240 child attended the event, had fun and enjoyed its corners, and every child got a coloring book and a story.
You can download your copy of the coloring book, the story, or any other publication.
