A stepping stone contributing in children taking responsibility of their development
Be-Free Program of Bahrain Women’s Society - for Human Development, launched a training guide for the trainers for the workshop series titled “I take responsibility of my life - the smart way” for elementary students, that can be implemented by teachers or trainers in the school, club or any gathering for children in that age group. The guide contains four detailed workshops with titles: “I follow my beautiful dream”, “I always choose what develops me”, “I take responsibility and get solutions - in a smart way” and “I get ready… Think… Find smart solutions to achieve my work”.
This workshop aims at embedding the concept of taking responsibility in children, especially regarding their development, and encourages them to think and choose for their tomorrow to be positively different than today, through many concepts, mainly for every child to have a beautiful dream for his human development to which they aspire. The workshop discussed how reaching your dreams is not always easy, and even though, a lot can be learned by taking steps to overcome the obstacles in an effort to reach the dream. Through its interactive exercises, the workshop assists children to understand, at all times and especially during hardships, that they have a choice to do the things they enjoy even though it’s harmful and not useful to them, or do the right thing that they might not enjoy but it is the best for them. And by taking responsibility to developing themselves, they should smartly choose to do the right thing.
The workshop works on putting realistic scenarios for children to discover the challenges they might be facing when they take responsibilities and assists them in reaching a solution on their own. As well as it works with them to anticipate the events to take precautionary measures and make alternative plans to their original plans that are not going as smoothly as they envisioned, and by that, they discover their ability for impromptu thinking and finding solutions to carry on and doing a good job without the option of it being less than perfect, or for them to stop pursuing their beautiful dream.
