Be-Free Program and Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland - Medical University of Bahrain, cooperated together to conduct a training program for the college students during February and March, to fulfill the requirements of the college’s “Community Outreach” program that the college provides in cooperation with local organizations. The training program aims at helping students to take role in increasing children’s awareness about essential concepts, such as respecting others, avoiding bullying and protecting themselves from it.
Be-Free trains them on conveying these concepts and presenting it through the story “We learn and have fun with our differences”, and the coloring book “I’m Respectful, Strong, and Smart Child”, that was produced by Be-Free. After the training, the students visit some of the interested schools, and present the story and the coloring book in fun and interactive ways that encourages the children to adopt and practice them in their lives. Moreover, Be-Free supervises the implementation of these workshops by accompanying them to the schools.
As in the previous years, the workshops were lively, interactive, and left a positive effect on the students and the children. Students expressed their enjoyment in presenting the skills to children, and appreciated children’s motivation and interaction. The most important thing from their point of view, was their ability to contribute in raising children’s awareness with new concepts and skills that can positively affect their lives, and which got manifested through the children’s discussions.
