Be-Free program, part of the Bahrain Women Association – for Human Development, introduced a new perspective for talent and presented it in a seminar titled “Talent.. A Special Seed”. In which it defined talent as a latent feature within every person, able to grow and prosper whenever we took care of it and developed it. This feature is not restricted in academics or the arts, rather is has many, broad and varied fields, for instance, a sense of humor, critical thinking, financial planning, and many more.
The analogy of talent with a seed was used, and a short movie was displayed to illustrate the similarities between the two. It emphasized that every child and every person has a talent or more, and Dr. Gerald Hüther, a neuroscientist, in his book “Every Child is highly Talented" declared “Every child has a distinct brain and is perfectly designed to suit their body, growth and future development. Therefore, every child is highly talented in his/her own way, and start life with a wealth of possibilities.”
In this seminar, the program hosted three distinguished people with uncommon talents, Ms. Salwa Yousif Mashaie, who has a talent in orderliness, Mr. Ali Rostam, a Bahraini sculptor and accessories designer, who discovered his passion and talent from a young age, the owner of the (ROSTAM) brand and decorating and carpentry workshop (ROSTAM WOOD FACTORY), and Ms. Noor Al Saeed, a young environmental activist with a talent in organization and logistics. During the Seminar, the guests talked about the beginning of their talents in their childhood and how they discovered it and applied it in service of others, which contributed to its development.
The seminar concluded with the announcement of the upcoming Talent Guide that is soon to be released by the program, to assist parents and all those dealing with children to discover their talents and develop them.
