“Cyberbullying, my son is a bully\victim of bullying, what shall I do?” was the title of the seminar of Be-Free program via Zoom platform on 27th October 2020. The seminar was introduced by Dr. Soroor Qarooni, a trainer at Be-Free Program, and certified coach and consultant for organizations and individuals. Dr. Qarooni clarified how cyberbullying differs from normal bullying in real life, and how bullying affects children and teenagers in both ways.
Then, she discussed four essential concepts to inculcate in children, whether they are bullies or being bullied. First, to center the attention on how good they are, and people’s opinion about them doesn’t identify who they are. Second, their families love and support him. Third, there’s always a chance to correct what they’ve done. Finally, to gain the strength from the proper source, and what they learn is an inspiration for others. Moreover, Dr. Qarooni pointed out 7 steps that help parents in dealing with children, whether they are bullies or victims of bullying:
- Provide support and help to them
- Listen to their story by heart and mind to understand it, not to investigate.
- Empathize with them.
- Explore the power that fits their humanity.
- Build their strength by creating a plan, rectify the situation, stop and repair the damage.
- Communicate with them as leaders to build their inner strength.
