October 2020

Be-Free program presented a training workshop “Five parenting skills that help in protecting children from Abuses over the Internet”, through Zoom platform on 2nd October 2020.
Dr. Suroor Qarooni; a trainer at Be-Free Program, certified coach and consultant for organizations and individuals, conducted the workshop with more than 50 participants from the Kingdom of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.

Dr. Qarooni clarified the two aspects to protect children from potential abuse when using the internet. The first one is, a technical and supervisory aspect, the other is a psychological and preventive aspect.
The technical and supervisory aspect is related to technologies, supervising and everything that parents can do to train their children to be safe over the internet.
On the other hand, the other aspect correlates with building children’s character so there are no flaws that abusers can use, whether in the form of bullying, harassment, sexual assaults, blackmailing, or any other type of exploitation.

The workshop focused on the preventive aspect. Dr. Qarooni pointed out five Parenting skills; “Give children the feeling of being safe”, “No matter how clear the information is, parents must be sure before taking actions”, “express your love, care and remind them with their beautiful traits”, “Take a step towards their feelings” and “Bring children’s heart together by sowing the seeds of joy and positive words in their minds”.
Finally, the workshop concluded by answering parents' and participants questions, and discussing daily challenges they face.
