Be-Free Program has released a book titled “Daughter, Son, Please Don’t Protect Me” written by Dr. Soroor Qarooni, the program specialist and consultant. The author deals with the roles that children and adolescents may adopt in families with chronic problems, and the negative impact on their personalities, families, and the world. The book also helps parents on how to deal with their children who may have adopted any of these roles.
As part of the book inauguration, Dr. Soroor Qarooni and Mrs. Esmat Hammad, a trainer and dialogue moderator held a virtual meeting via Instagram. The discussion started with the unusual title of the book, which calls for children not to protect their parents, while usually parents are mainly concerned with the protection of their children. Additionally, the author discussed possible roles that children may adopt, as well as the need for parents to have a successful plan for helping their children.
The program published four cards on social media explaining the children’s roles. First, the Hero child who defends the oppressed party. Second, the troublemaker child who tries to stop a fight. Third, the well-behaved or lost child who tries to lighten the burden on parents, so they focus on solving their own problems. Forth, the Mascot child who uses humor and goofiness to distract from serious issues.
It is noteworthy that some mothers who read the book have shared their opinion through a short video explaining the books’ benefits on the program's Instagram account.
